Merryl's Mosaics has recently moved into bigger premises and are now open daily. We have space and two time slots daily for adults and children to attend whenever it suits. Choose from our range of mosaic or glass based sessions available every day. As a casual class or a holiday session for kids or adults, Merry's Mosaics offers a comprehensive range of creative sessions to choose from. 

Sessions to choose from are:

1. Kids' Bead Mosaic Session (for 4+ years) 

This activity is for bead mosaics  from 4 years plus. This is a fun, creative and safe activity. Using gorgeous beads (instead of glass), and a huge range of templates, children create "mosaics"using beads in a fun and artistic environment. I literally hear squeals of delight from small children mesmerized by the glitz, colour and satisfaction of their artwork.

No grouting is required. This acivity is targeted at 4 - 6 year olds although many older people enjoy this activity.  

This is a stimulating, fun, creative and relaxing activity. It is a beautiful experience to do with your child. Children under 5 are to be accompanied by an adult.

The price is inclusive of 1 template. If your child finishes quickly and would like to make another, the additional cost will be $9 per extra piece.

2. Kids' Flowers and Bling Mosaic Session (for 6+ years) 

This is a great craft activity suitable for people from 6 years plus. This is a fun, creative and safe activity. Using the most beautiful array of blingy beads, sequins, polymer clay flowers and sparkly mosaic glass tiles, and a choice of a huge range of templates, create floral glass art mosaics in a fun and artistic environment. The result is very beautiful and fit to be framed and hung in your home.

No grouting is required. This acivity begins with you choosing a template of your choice (we have a very wide range including picture frames, love hearts, hamsa's, pineapples, letters of the alphabet, unicorns, flowers and much more); then painting the template in a colour that will be a background to the colour group you choose for your beads/flowers/tiles. Then cut and stick shiny glass tiles as a border, and fill the piece with an array of beads and flowers. 

This is a stimulating, fun, creative and relaxing activity. The outcome is gorgeous. It is a beautiful experience to do with your child. Children do not need to be accompanied by an adult, although adults are welcome to stay and help.

3. Mosaic Session (for 7+ years)  

This is a hands-on activity for people 7 years +. It is a 2.5 hour activity where participants create a mosaic from beginning to end and take it home. Making a mosaic is a very therapeutic, relaxing, creative and fun experience. Starting with choosing a template from many gorgeous choices (eg. pineapples, unicorns, cupcakes, cats, letters of the alphabet and many many more), then choosing from a gorgeous array of coloured glass and beads, participants learn to cut their tiles and then stick them onto their template. Lastly they grout their piece and take it home.

All participants are fully supported and we provide assistance and advice to ensure that everyone creates a piece that they are proud of.

The outcome is wonderful and participants feel a great sense of achievement. Most suitable for 7 years plus (6 year olds may make a mosaic but they will not be able to cut their own tiles so a parent/adult should stay at the beginning to help. Alternatively they can make a bead mosaic without parent supervision).

As a casual or holiday program activity, what you mosaic is limited to a certain size and requires a basic skill level which will be learned on the day. The price and time is for this activity only. 4. Glass Fusing Session (for 10+ years) 

Usually glass art is a complex and expensive activity. However at Merryl's Mosaics, we have come up with a design technique that is simple, fun and affordable and produces beautiful results. This 2.5 hour activity brings a typically high end art craft to the public.

Fusing glass is when you take a base piece of glass, put a glass design of your choice on it, and then fire the 2 layers of glass into one piece. The firing takes place in a kiln which is like an oven for glass. Much like an oven, you set the kiln at different tempertures and get different outcomes. For example, the glass can be fired smooth, or textured. You can also choose to fuse your piece into a flat piece, or slump the glass into a dish. The slumping process takes 2 firings, and costs $6 more. You can choose what you want to make.

Glass fusing is an amazing and beautiful process. You will love it and be delighted with the results.

The price is inclusive of 1 piece, 17cm x 17cm in size. If your child wants to make a larger piece, or 2 pieces, there will be an additional cost which will be discussed at the time.

As a casual or holiday program activity, what you make requires a basic skill level which will be taught on the day. The price and time is for this activity only. If you want to learn more complex techniques, please contact us for details on our Glass Fusing Classes run during the Term.

3-day Intensive Program (for 9+ years) - School Holiday Activity

If you have attended several holiday program sessions, or want to learn more serious mosiac skills, our 3-day Intensive Program is designed for you, where you will learn to create your own unique mosaic, from design to completion. Limited to children 9 years plus (as it is essential that the participant can cut their own tiles.) Preferable for children who have had some mosaic experience, but not essential.

Prior to attending this program, we will make contact with you to plan your mosaic. If you have an old skateboard, an old guitar, a broken item that you value, a vase, bottle, planter or similar objects, you can use this as the basis for your mosaic. Or if you have a favourite image/picture that you would like to mosaic, discuss it with us and, if suitable, we will get it ready to be mosaiced. Also if you have some special tiles, beads or the like that you would like to put in your mosiac, you can bring it along.

All participants will be fully supported. We will provide assistance and advice to ensure that all participants create a unique piece that they are proud of. You will acquire skills beyond the skillset that you acquire at our typical holiday program sessions.

Come on your own or with a friend. You will find it highly rewarding.

You can attend any 3 days you like. They need not be consecutive. When booking, select your start date and then select "Reservation" for your choice of dates for the remaining 2 days.
